Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful 8 Review (Minor Spoilers).

I loved The Hateful 8. While some compare it to Clue, I think it has more in common with John Carpenter's The Thing right down from some music from that soundtrack being used in the film. Disagree with me, watch both movies and thematically with some direct character parallels, particularly at the end, the movie is a loosely inspired homage to John Carpenter's The Thing except the monster is not who is the thing? They are almost all monsters in one form or another. It is though a case of "Who Goes There?" Author John W. Campbell's novella that inspired both the Carpenter and the Howard Hawks version. Ironically the fact Kurt Russell just happens to be in both John Carpenter's The Thing and Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful 8 is the element that I felt was the least to draw comparison too. It was no coincidence Ennio Morricone composed the soundtrack for both films. Either way, two great movies. Watch them both.
